The United Church of Canada decided to sell the property at 2 Station Road when it became evident that their plans to redevelop the building into affordable seniors apartments were not feasible under Heritage Designation.

The property was purchased in 2016 and internally renovated as a private Montessori school which opened in 2017: www.phoenixmontessorischool.ca

The school renovations have left the internal structures in tact. For example, the former sanctuary has been creatively converted into several separate classroom spaces, divided by a house-shaped structure in the centre which could be removed if future owners/tenants wanted to convert it back to a single open space.

The Save Wesley team is pleased that the building will remain and be cared for by the current owners, and that it is being fully utilized by it’s current occupants for the purposes of education and childcare. The Heritage aspects of the building will also continue to be protected by it’s Heritage Designation.
